ArtecLab

Laboratory for art . work . technology

Mixed Reality Adventures

artecLab is an experimental group of artists, engineers and scientists searching for new forms of human/machine interaction. Their Real-Reality-Approach, now part of the more general “Mixed Reality” research, is a method of modeling in reality with concrete objects, experiencing real physical phenomena, and generating a corresponding computer model with links between the real and the virtual. A general interface Hyper-Bond serves as a translator of physical into informational phenomena and vice versa. This allows completely new forms of distributed and cooperative use of real and virtual devices and laboratory equipment.

The intentions and aims in artecLab are playful experimentations with the relation of humans to machines without being limited by rationalisation, usefulness, or efficient productivity. Some of the roots of our thoughts and actions in art, work and technology can be traced in the tensions between purposivness and purposelessness, usefulness and uselessness, simulation and gaming.
